Meet Rod Key, president and CEO of Phoenix-based marketing solutions company, R and R Images. Originally from England, Key moved to the U.S. when he was just 15 years old. Passionate study of photography and the relentless desire to provide outstanding services were the catalysts he needed to create his own commercial photography business that eventually morphed him into a digital photography pioneer. In 1988, Key founded R and R Images and over the years has grown the marketing company to include strategy, concepts, data analytics, creative services, photography, digital print, POP and large format solutions.
With a portfolio of Fortune 500 clients and prestigious awards, Rod’s vision and passion are recognized for both innovation and results. He well understands that to stand still in the commercial printing business is to fall backwards, which is why he wasted no time to become one of the very first users of the innovative HP Indigo 5500 Digital Press, and in 2009, the HP Indigo 7000. Key knew that if he remained just a print-services provider, he’d be holding on for dear life, as printing prices and margins were shrinking with no end in sight. Key chose a more proactive stance by offering complete direct marketing solutions that maximize ROI for clients and build customer loyalty for R and R Images. Today, he offers the most innovative direct marketing strategies available, providing tangible results for elated customers.
Not only is Rod a sharp, creative, insightful marketing expert who is an industry leader, behind his business acumen is a man who values others. And it shows in every interaction he has, whether with a colleague, employee or client. A stroll through Rod’s 30,000 sq. ft. facility will reveal a talented group of employees who are excited to be at work each day because of the positive work environment Key has made, simply by truly caring about people. Key makes his employees feel like a part of a team, which breeds employee loyalty and a commitment to excellence. This kind of employee loyalty ensures minimal turnover and an end-product consistency that clients have come to enjoy and expect.
With the January 2009 hire of EVO/CMO Rod Seaver, Key has more time to focus on his greatest passion in the business---the photo books division. Seaver was charged with moving R and R Images forward as a leader in providing results-driven marketing solutions, taking the marketing, operations and business development efforts off of Key’s plate to free up his time to devote to growing the photo books division. Seaver and Key have a synergistic cadence that keeps business moving forward, clients happy and employees motivated.
Key’s honors and awards include the PIAZ Best Digital Printer 2006 and 2007, 2006 Trendsetter Award, Voted Best Printer 2007 Arizona Business Magazine and 2008 Gold Ink Award. Additionally, he remains a product development partner for Hewlett Packard.
His industry involvement includes 2009 Dscoop Conference Chair, AMA Member, Board Director ASU Technology Department, DPAC Member, Hewlett Packard's Digital Printing Advisory Council, Steering Committee Member of DScoop, PIAZ Member, Past Board Member PIAZ, and Past Board Member ICE.
Most recently, Key was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing private companied in the U.S.
Key lives in Phoenix with his wife, daughter and son. When he’s not with his R and R Images family, he enjoys photography, flying, boating, outdoors and coaching his son’s sports teams.
Seaver is recognized throughout the U.S. as a leading expert regarding digital marketing solutions innovation, as well as a sought-after public speaker within the direct marketing community, often partnering with Hewlett-Packard. He joined R and R Images in January 2009 as EVP/CMO with the charge of conceptualizing and implementing a strategy to morph the company into today’s hottest direct marketing solution for any size of business. Additionally, he directs marketing efforts, business development, planning and operations, as well as strategic direction for promotions and advertising in conjunction with the company’s sales and service department.
For R and R Images president and CEO, Rod Key, Seaver’s arrival meant more than having a trusted name coaching his team; Key was able to share responsibilities with Rob, which meant they each had more time to devote to what they do best. For Key, his focus zeroed in on the photo books division—something he is very passionate about. And Seaver---his forte is marketing and business development, which is where his compass is always pointed.
Before grabbing the reins at R and R Images, Seaver held the VP of Business Development position at Tennessee-based TAG Marketing and Recruiting for three years. Guilty as charged, Rob’s passion for the industry, coupled with his business acumen, were the catalysts for TAG's multi-year recognition by Inc. magazine as one of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in the U.S. Under Seaver's direction, R and R Images was recognized as one of 2009's fastest growing private companies in the U.S. by Inc. magazine—an excellent testimony of Seaver's direction.
After spending seven years in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller, he became managing partner of Cornerstone Print On Demand in 2003 until joining TAG in 2005.
Additionally, Rob is involved in the marketing world. He’s on the advisory board of DSCOOP, an active member of the American Marketing Association and the Direct Marketing Association.
What do his co-workers say about him? It’s all good! The truth is, Seaver is a giver. He listens to his employees and delivers the tools they need to be successful—with an emphasis on listening. He manages R and R Images with an eyes-wide-open excitement that reveals his passion for the growth and evolution of the company. And it’s contagious. He has an entire staff behind him, supporting his efforts as he takes the company to its next level.
That said, he is on a mission to transform our industry. And R and R Images owner Rod Key is smiling.
Seaver and his family live in Anthem, Arizona.
